Košice hospitals are preparing together for a crisis situation in connection with doctors’ resignations. The most serious situation is in the Children’s Faculty Hospital (DFN).

At the Crisis Staff of the Košice Region, on Wednesday (November 23), representatives of the city’s key medical facilities informed each other about the current situation and the possibilities of mutual cooperation and assistance, so that patients are provided with health care even if the doctors do not withdraw their resignations by the end of the month. Monika Krišková, spokeswoman for the Louis Pasteur University Hospital (UNLP), where the crisis team met, informed about this on Thursday.

In the UNLP, 227 out of 907 doctors resigned, which is 25 percent. “We are preparing for a possible crisis situation and we are coordinating our activities with all medical facilities in Košice, and also according to the instructions from the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic,” said hospital director Ľuboslav Beňa.

In UNLP Košice, both emergency departments (at Class SNP 1 and Rastislavová 43) will be fully available, as well as the Trauma Surgery Clinic (at Rastislavová 43). All possible changes in the settings of UNLP Košice workplaces will be promptly notified to the Regional Operations Center of the Rescue Service Košice,” he added.
