Germany, Slovakia and Bulgaria will receive an additional 111.5 million euros from European Union funds for recovery after the pandemic. The funds will be disbursed from the REACT-EU package of measures under the European Social Fund (ESF) to help employees and jobseekers, support healthcare services and achieve sustainable socio-economic recovery.

Slovakia will receive EUR 17.9 million from the package to support workers and services in the field of health care and civil protection, who were on the front line during the most critical phases of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The REACT-EU tranche for 2021 allocated EUR 40 billion to help Member States recovering from the pandemic, investing in digital and green transformation and currently accepting and integrating war refugees from Ukraine. In addition, from March 2022, the EC paid pre-financing payments of EUR 3.5 billion to Member States under REACT-EU.

The latest comprehensive “flexible aid to territories (FAST-CARE)” package proposed by the EC further extends support to Member States by offering additional flexibility in Cohesion Policy funding while increasing pre-financing payments by an additional €3.5 billion to be to be paid in 2022 and 2023. The final date of eligibility for REACT-EU expenditure is 31 December 2023.
