Deputies of the National Council (NR) of the Slovak Republic adopted the resolution of the Direction-SD on the crisis situation in the health sector. They decided on it in Tuesday’s vote. 67 MPs out of 113 present were in favor of adopting the resolution, five were against, 39 MPs abstained and two did not vote.

By resolution, the parliament asked the government to sign a memorandum with medical trade unions to end the crisis in the health sector. It contains the individual requirements of doctors and deadlines for solutions. For example, work out and ensure the implementation of the DRG system, ensure resources in the state budget and supplement the health care sector in the part of reimbursement for state insured persons in the amount of four percent of the average monthly wage in the national economy for state insured persons per month. He also talks about the adjustment of the standard for the number of health workers and the like.

Smer-SD appealed to the government to come to an agreement with the doctors and thus prevent the collapse of the healthcare system. According to the party, this threatens after the notice period for several doctors expires in December.


The deputies discussed the proposal at an extraordinary meeting. In addition to the opposition MPs, Minister of Health Vladimír Lengvarský (OĽANO nominee) also spoke. He stated that the requirements from the resolution are also in the memorandum prepared by his department.

The deputies ended the 76th session of the NRSR by voting. After the break, another special meeting will follow. Interior Minister Roman Mikulec (OĽANO) is to face the appeal within it. The proposal was submitted by the opposition Smer-SD, which blames the minister for not managing the current migration crisis.
