According to the police, a 39-year-old woman from Brno was robbed of almost half a million crowns (20,300 euros) by fraudsters. She wanted to protect her allegedly threatened bank account.
The damage could have been even higher, because she also took out a loan. Spokesperson Bohumil Malášek reported on the case on the police website today. The police repeatedly warn against similar frauds.
According to the police, the woman lost all her family savings, and it will probably take a long time to repay the loan. “She believed the alleged banker and the bank’s security officer, who told her in phone calls that her account was at risk. He then advised her to withdraw all the money and deposit it in a selected secure cryptocurrency account,” the spokesman said.
As soon as the woman did this, according to the instructions, it was necessary to prevent the blocking of the account by depositing another amount. The woman obtained it by negotiating a loan. Of the almost 600,000 crowns (24,360 euros) obtained, she fortunately deposited only 200,000 crowns (8,120 euros) into the account designated by the fraudsters.. “Only then did she understand that she had been deceived. She thus lost almost half a million crowns in one-day bank transactions, “said the spokesman.
