The Ray of Darkness award was won this year by the director of the Department of Horizontal Principles of the Ministry of Labor, Dagmar Litterová, and the director of the Private Music and Dramatic Conservatory in Rimavská Sobota, Gabriela Radičová.

The award was given for the fifth time by Roma organizations and independent personalities to people who have been advocating for the improvement of the status of Roma in various areas of life for a long time.

According to the jury, Litterová proved that she is an asset in the field of creation and enforcement of state strategies for non-discrimination and equal opportunities while working in the state administration. Radičová was praised for her long-term support of Roma students in the field of education and building intercultural dialogue.

For the second time this year, the organizers also awarded the public prize Kalapa Tele – Hats off. They got her pastors of the Apostolic Church, Marek Gombár and Rinaldo Oláhwho, after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, set up temporary shelters for Ukrainian Roma in pastoral centers in Pavlovce nad Uhom and Sabinov.

Together with them, the coordinator of the Roma Education Fund Slovakia, Viktor Teru, who after the Russian invasion of Ukraine coordinated humanitarian aid not only for Roma refugees, won the prize.
